A spokesperson for North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to U.S. allegations through the Korean Central News Agency, calling them "absurd slander" and a "political tool" aimed at fueling a "hostile policy." According to TRM Labs data, since 2017, North Korean-linked hackers have stolen over $6 billion in cryptocurrency, with their share of global hacking losses rising from less than 10% in 2020 to 64% in 2025. In the first four months of 2026, these hackers were reportedly responsible for the theft of about $577 million, accounting for 76% of global losses.
