Ethereum working group launches “Clear Sign” open standard to address blind signing issues and enhance on-chain transaction security
According to Odaily, a working group led by the Ethereum Foundation has released a new open standard called “Clear Signing,” targeting the long-standing issue of “blind signing.” The new standard is built on the ERC-7730 specification and aims to advance the principle of WYSIWYS (What You See Is What You Sign). This allows users, before signing transactions, to understand the effective content of transactions in a unified, readable, and structured way, replacing the current, commonly used approach that is machine-readable but difficult for users to interpret. Through a unified description format, registry system, and independent verification and auditing mechanisms, transaction intentions can be clearly expressed and standardized within wallets. Clear Signing does not alter on-chain transaction structures but enhances interpretability via off-chain standardized descriptions, thereby improving security without impacting compatibility with existing protocols.
