Sei has disabled the IBC asset transfer function, and the network is gradually transitioning to a pure EVM architecture.
BlockBeats news, on May 13, Sei Labs announced that, according to a community proposal, Sei Network has officially disabled the function for transferring IBC assets into the network. The official notice reminds users who currently hold IBC assets in Sei Network wallets to bridge related assets out as soon as possible, as Sei will further disable the IBC asset withdrawal function in the future.
Sei Labs stated that the Sei v6.4 version, upgraded in April, already included a mechanism to disable IBC asset transfers. Some wallets holding relevant assets had previously received airdrop reminders, advising users to complete bridging or conversions before Sei fully migrates to the EVM-only architecture.
This means Sei is gradually reducing compatibility with the original Cosmos IBC ecosystem and moving further towards being an EVM chain.
