Analyst: Increased traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, but "dark fleet" vessels are also on the rise
Odaily reported that the traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has increased this week, but analysts warn that more ships are turning off their Automatic Identification System (AIS) tracking signals during transit.
According to shipping industry media Lloyd's List, as regional risks remain elevated, tanker owners are preparing for prolonged shipping disruptions. The current traffic remains far below pre-conflict levels. At that time, about 130 ships passed through the strait daily, carrying roughly 20% of the world's oil and natural gas supply.
