Over the past year, two out of the ten companies in this cluster have closed factories due to the European chemical industry's exposure to high energy prices, weak demand, and increasingly fierce competition. "Developments in the Middle East are pushing up energy costs, further highlighting that the UK and Europe remain highly vulnerable to external shocks," said Peter Huntsman, CEO of Huntsman Corporation. The company operates several projects across Europe, including in Rotterdam.```
