Glonghui, May 21 | According to filings from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), GameStop has increased its shareholding in eBay from approximately 5% to around 6.6%. GameStop’s holdings include 25,000 ordinary shares directly held, as well as shares involved through a combination of put/call options, totaling about 6.55% of eBay’s outstanding shares. In early May this year, GameStop CEO Cohen proactively proposed to acquire eBay for around $56 billion. eBay rejected this acquisition proposal, describing it as “neither credible nor attractive.” In multiple interviews, Cohen stated that he remains committed to advancing the acquisition plan, and indicated that if necessary, he would proceed to make a tender offer directly to eBay shareholders. Analysts point out that GameStop’s continued increase in eBay shares may indicate that Cohen is planning further actions, such as calling a special shareholders’ meeting.

"Big short" Michael Burry: The AI bubble may burst "earlier than expected," replacing short positions with put options to increase leverage

He believes the AI boom is built on the unproven assumption of "sustained capital expenditure," and once revenues disappoint, capital will quickly flee.
