(1) On Tuesday, South Africa auctioned three batches of long-term government bonds. Among them, the bond maturing in 2037 issued 850 million rand with a clearing yield of 8.905%, and the bid-to-cover ratio reached 5.2. (2) The bond maturing in 2039 issued 850 million rand with a clearing yield of 9.105%, and the bid-to-cover ratio was 3.6. (3) The bond maturing in 2044 issued 850 million rand with a clearing yield of 9.260%, and the bid-to-cover ratio was 4.7. (4) The total issuance of the three bonds reached 2.55 billion rand, and all bid-to-cover ratios were at high levels, indicating that in the context of heightened global geopolitical uncertainty, high-coupon emerging market sovereign debt shows strong appeal to yield-chasing funds. (5) From a trading sentiment perspective, although the yield curve for South African long-term government bonds shows a slight upward trend, market subscription enthusiasm has not been dampened, reflecting investors' willingness to take on longer duration risk for high coupons. At the same time, it is also necessary to pay attention to the impact of subsequent rand exchange rate fluctuations on the bond market.
