GLONGHUI, May 28 — As ongoing uncertainty surrounds the prospects of a recent peace agreement between the US and Iran, the Japanese stock market declined. The Nikkei Index fell by 0.6% to 64,594.99 points. Technology and metal stocks led the losses. SoftBank Group dropped 4.7%, and Mitsui Kinzoku fell 5.6%. US President Trump stated that if Iran thinks he will soften his stance to avoid a prolonged stalemate with Tehran, it is making a miscalculation. Investors are closely monitoring developments in the Middle East situation.
