The Japanese research firm Teikoku Databank announced on the 29th the results of its latest survey targeting 195 major food and beverage producers. The survey revealed that in June, 1,078 types of food and beverage products in Japan will see price increases, while 2,269 types are scheduled for price hikes in July, marking a significant rise compared to June. In addition, from January to October 2026, the total number of confirmed price-increased products has reached 9,361. Analysis shows that “rising raw material prices” is the main reason for the price hikes, with other factors including “increased packaging material costs” and “the impact of the Middle Eastern situation.” The research institution believes that amid deteriorating conditions in the Middle East, a large-scale wave of price increases may continue after this summer.
