Japan proposes promoting yen stablecoins for Asian settlements and establishing a cryptocurrency ETF framework
According to Foresight News, Reuters reported that Japan's Liberal Democratic Party Blockchain Technology Promotion Group on Monday submitted a proposal to Financial Minister Katayama Noriyuki, suggesting that Japan promote the yen stablecoin for settlements in Asia and establish a legal framework allowing trading of cryptocurrency ETFs. The proposal emphasized that cryptocurrency ETFs would provide investors with an easy-to-understand investment option and urged the government to position them as formal investment tools in the financial markets. LDP legislator Junichi Kanda stated that Japan plans to promote the yen stablecoin and blockchain innovation initiatives at the Asian Development Bank Annual Meeting next May. Currently, Japan's three major banks, supported by the Financial Services Agency, have launched a joint issuance experiment for stablecoins.
