Ethereum researchers establish dedicated post-quantum public key register as the first step in launching a post-quantum security transition plan
According to Foresight News, Ethereum researcher Thomas Coratger stated that Ethereum has officially launched its post-quantum security transition plan. The first step is to establish a dedicated post-quantum (PQ) public key registry to replace the current BLS signature scheme, providing validators with security against quantum attacks.
The research was jointly written by Thomas Coratger, Tom Wambsgans, Ladislaus, Thomas Thiery, and Justin Drake. It explores the design scheme space in depth, with a focus on the technical path of XMSS (eXtended Merkle Signature Scheme). This work has been included in the Ethereum "Strawmap" roadmap and aims to address the potential threat to Ethereum's security posed by large-scale quantum computers.
