  1. According to provisional data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority on Friday, Greece's economy continued to expand in the first quarter of 2026. After seasonal adjustment, GDP increased by 0.2% quarter-on-quarter, a significant slowdown from the revised 0.7% in the fourth quarter of last year; the year-on-year growth was 2.0%, also lower than the revised 2.3% in the previous quarter.
  2. Structurally, growth in the first quarter was mainly driven by consumption and exports, while investment performed weakly, partially offsetting overall growth momentum. This indicates that Greece's economic growth pace has slowed somewhat after entering 2026, and investment activity may be constrained by financing costs, geopolitical uncertainties, or confidence factors.
  3. From the perspective of trading sentiment and market focus, the combination of slower economic growth but resilient consumption and exports may lead to more complex risk assessments of Greek assets in the market. Going forward, the focus will be on whether investment can rebound, and whether external demand (including tourism and exports) can continue to support economic expansion in coming quarters.
