Please note that the following numbers were amended on 10 June 2026 following an updated submission.
As at end May 2026, the amount of gold held in London vaults was 9,392 tonnes (a 0.21% increase on previous month), valued at $1.4 trillion, which equates to approximately 751,380 gold bars.
There were also 27,611 tonnes of silver (a 0.6% increase on previous month), valued at $67.3 billion, which equates to approximately 920,378 silver bars.
These figures provide an important insight into London's ability to underpin the physical OTC market.
The publication on the fifth business day of each month of the amount of gold the London vaults were holding at the end of the previous month follows the recent move to publish the equivalent data for silver. It represents a continued move towards greater transparency and timeliness.
