Turkey's retail sales year-on-year growth slowed sharply to 11.4% in April

⑴ In April 2026, Turkey's retail sales increased by 11.4% year-on-year, a significant slowdown compared to the revised 21.7% in March. Growth in non-food sales (excluding automotive fuel) also slowed (March 29.5%, April 14.5%), including computers and peripheral equipment, software, books, telecommunications equipment, etc. (March 49.9%, April 18.6%); audio-visual equipment, hardware, paint and glass, household appliances, furniture, etc. (March 10.0%, April 6.7%); textiles, clothing, and footwear (March 14.2%, April 10.7%); as well as mail order and internet sales (March 21.1%, April 17.9%), all showed a slowdown. ⑵ Automotive fuel sales growth also slowed significantly (March 10.7%, April 2.7%). Meanwhile, food sales continued to increase (March 7.4%, April 7.6%). Seasonally adjusted month-on-month, retail sales fell by 1.7%, reversing the revised 2.8% increase from the previous month.
