The Materials Index, traded during US stock market hours, closed down 1% at 251.98 points. According to Bloomberg, it briefly plunged to zero at 21:51 in the UTC+8 time zone before instantly rebounding to its previous level. The Metals & Mining Index, also traded during US market hours, closed down 1.63% at 295.95 points.
