Golden Ten Data reported on June 18 that on this day, the last working day before the Dragon Boat Festival, lithium carbonate prices plummeted. By the close of the day, the main contract for lithium carbonate futures (2609) had fallen by more than 6%, dropping to around 160 thousand yuan, a decrease of over 20% from the previous high. In the spot market, the latest data from Shanghai Steel Union shows that on June 18, the average market price of battery-grade lithium carbonate in early trading fell by 800 yuan compared to the previous working day, reaching 168.8 thousand yuan/ton. In addition to regular factors such as pre-holiday risk aversion demand, some unnamed analysts stated that recent rumors about the accelerated resumption progress of CATL’s Jianxiwo lithium mine in Yichun have led the market to generally expect a future supply rebound. That afternoon, it was learned from the Land Use Control Department of Jiangxi Provincial Department of Natural Resources that Yichun CATL New Energy Mining Co., Ltd. had obtained the “Preliminary Examination and Site Selection Opinion for Construction Land” for the Jianxiwo lithium mine project again on June 17, valid from June 17, 2026, to June 17, 2029.
