Brazil's second corn crop harvesting accelerates, new season soybean planting area expected to hit record high

⑴ Agricultural consultancy AgRural said on Monday that as of last Thursday, farmers in Brazil's central-southern region had harvested 16% of the 2026 second-season corn crop, up from 8% the previous week and also higher than 13% from the same period last year. ⑵ Harvest progress in Mato Grosso state continues to lead, while operations in some other states have slowed due to rainfall and lower temperatures limiting grain moisture loss. ⑶ The consultancy expects intended soybean planting area for the 2026/27 season to reach a record 49 million hectares, up 0.9% from the previous season.
