⑴ On Monday, the Canadian dollar slightly weakened against the US dollar, trading between 1.4146 and 1.4193, and closed at 1.4156, basically unchanged. ⑵ The yield on Canada's 10-year government bonds rose by 1.6 basis points to 3.413%, while US Treasury yields for the same period climbed to 4.4969%. ⑶ According to Statistics Canada, the annual inflation rate accelerated to 3.2% in May, higher than April’s 2.8% and above the 3.0% expected in institutional surveys. ⑷ US July crude oil futures fell by 84 cents to $75.76 per barrel, and the retreat in energy prices put some pressure on the Canadian dollar.
