Microsoft's market value evaporates by 570 billions USD, potentially the worst monthly performance since 2000
Odaily reports that as investors continue to worry about the prospects of a certain exchange in the era of artificial intelligence, the share price of this software giant is heading towards its worst monthly performance since the dot-com bubble. The stock has fallen 17% in June, and at this rate, it will record its worst single-month performance since December 2000. This sell-off has wiped over $570 billion off the company's market capitalization; before the stock rebounded on Friday, its price fell to the lowest closing level since 2023 on Thursday.
Jack Ablin, chief investment strategist at Cresset Wealth Advisors, who holds this stock, said: "The exchange is facing double pressure — concerns about spending on artificial intelligence (AI), and also the disruptive impact brought by AI. Although from a low valuation perspective, this seems like a good investment, my sense is that investors are currently adopting a 'sell first, ask questions later' approach."
