24 Hour Crypto Recap: Here’s What Happened in the Market

Bitcoin traded near $62,573, up 1.96% over the past 24 hours, while Ethereum outperformed with a 3.34% daily gain to trade around $1,758, extending its weekly rise past 11%. XRP jumped to $1.14, up more than 5% on the day and over 8% for the week, while Solana added 4.09% to trade near $84, up more than 16% over seven days.

Total crypto market capitalization stood at $2.17 trillion, up 2.14% over the past day. Sentiment remained mixed despite the gains, with the Fear & Greed Index at 26, still in “fear” territory, while the Altcoin Season Index held at 48, showing Bitcoin continues to lead broader market performance.

CryptoQuant flagged rising exchange deposits across Bitcoin, Ethereum, and altcoins as a signal that volatility may intensify. Bitcoin deposits on exchanges climbed to nearly 49,000 BTC on June 30, a level reached only four times this year, with past spikes of similar size historically followed by sharp price swings. 

Crypto futures liquidations reached roughly $185 million over 24 hours on July 3, with shorts accounting for the larger share at $102 million against $83.29 million in long liquidations. Binance carried the heaviest liquidation volume among exchanges.

Bhutan’s government moved 700 BTC, worth about $43.75 million, to Binance, according to on-chain monitoring. Separately, F2Pool co-founder Wang Chun deposited another 9,876 ETH, worth roughly $17.02 million, to Binance, while a wallet linked to LSE-listed KR1 plc sent 3.7 million LDO worth about $990,000 to Kraken.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin transferred 79 ETH, worth about $137,000, using the privacy protocol RAILGUN. Hyperliquid Strategies bought another 600,000 HYPE over the past week, worth roughly $40.6 million, while trimming its cash reserves to about $149.4 million.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand proposed banning elected officials and the president, along with their spouses, from issuing or sponsoring personal digital assets. Gillibrand is among the lawmakers negotiating ethics provisions in the Clarity Act, which has faced repeated delays over tokenization and stablecoin rewards.

India’s central bank told parliament it favors an “isolation plus prohibition” approach to crypto, recommending regulated banks and financial institutions be walled off entirely from crypto assets and privately issued stablecoins. The RBI warned that treating crypto like traditional financial products could create a false sense of safety and reiterated its preference for developing a central bank digital currency instead.

In the US, New Hampshire’s legislature passed the Blockchain Basics Act, granting residents the right to self-custody digital assets and pay with them without added local taxes or restrictions, and establishing a dedicated blockchain dispute court.

The sanctioned ruble-pegged stablecoin A7A5 disputed blockchain analytics firms over its actual trading volume. The issuer claims average daily volume near $205 million between January and mid-June, while TRM Labs estimates the real figure closer to $75 million and says activity has declined in recent months.

Circle minted another 250 million USDC on Solana through USDC Treasury, adding fresh liquidity to the network.

Cross-border payments platform Offramp, which served Latin American freelancers, announced a phased shutdown running through the end of the year, with transfers and card services already disabled. Solana-based NFT platform Exchange Art also confirmed plans to close, citing a prolonged downturn in on-chain art trading.

ENS Labs Director of Operations Brantly Millegan announced his departure from the project, saying most of his associated side projects will wind down in the coming weeks with code remaining open source. Privacy computing project Sunscreen announced it is being acquired by Fhenix, with its team joining to continue fully homomorphic encryption development.

African exchange VALR confirmed it will launch a perpetual contracts product on July 6 by integrating Hyperliquid’s liquidity and execution layer.
