Stille has held the position for three years, with his term originally set to end in April 2027. Vale thanked him for his contributions to the company during his tenure in a statement on Monday. Last month, after the pension fund Previ—which holds a 7% stake in the mining company—called for a special vote to remove the chairman, tensions within Vale's board have been escalating. According to Valor Economico, after negotiations that included a financial compensation package, Stille agreed to resign.
