Hyundai Motor and the South Korean Government Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure

Hyundai Motor Group announced on Tuesday that it will collaborate with the government to establish a nationwide certification for Plug and Charge (PnC) technology, aiming to promote broader adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).
The company stated that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea's Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and Korea Environment Corporation to build a national certification system for EV PnC services.
PnC is an international standard technology that enables automatic user authentication, charging, and payment by simply plugging in the charging cable.
Unlike traditional EV charging services that require a membership card or credit card for authentication, PnC provides a safer and more convenient charging experience through encrypted authentication between the vehicle and the charging pile.
According to the agreement, Hyundai Motor Group will transfer its PnC authentication technology and certification authorization to the government, helping to expand the technology across a wider network of EV charging stations in Korea.
