Golden Ten Data, July 8th – According to CNN, as the 60-day ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran appears increasingly at risk, tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has become "virtually halted." Jorge León, Head of Geopolitical Analysis at research firm Rystad, wrote in a report on Wednesday: "So far today, the transit appears to have come to a complete halt." He added that this state of "virtual standstill" "reflects current risk expectations more accurately than any statement issued by Washington or Tehran." According to data from Kpler, only four tankers have passed through the strait so far today. Kpler Senior Oil Analyst Naveen Das stated that since the United States and Iran reached the 60-day ceasefire agreement on June 17, the average daily number of tankers passing through has been around 32. This figure is nearly three times the average daily traffic from the outbreak of the conflict (February) to the signing of the agreement on June 17, although it still remains well below pre-war levels.
