CANADA FX DEBT - Canadian dollar strengthens, benchmark yield climbs
Reuters2026/08/14 13:00The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on Friday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed.
The loonie CAD= was trading 0.3% higher at C$1.3881 to the greenback, or 72.04 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3868 to 1.3937.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields CA10YT=RR rose 0.5 basis points to 3.631%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.6447%.
U.S. September crude CLc1 futures fell 10 cents to $81.15 a barrel on Friday.
Canadian factory sales fell 0.1% in June from the previous month, Statistics Canada said. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected factory sales to drop 0.1%.
