Vanda Pharmaceuticals' Skin Disease Drug Gets EU Orphan Drug Designation

07:41 AM EDT, 08/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Vanda Pharmaceuticals (VNDA) said Monday the European Commission granted orphan drug designation to its experimental drug, imsidolimab, for treating generalized pustular psoriasis, a rare and potentially life-threatening skin disease. The company said the designation can provide regulatory support, lower fees and market exclusivity in the European Union following approval. The drug has also received similar designations in the US and Japan, the company said, adding that its Biologics License Application is under review by the US Food and Drug Administration, with a target action date of Dec. 12.
