09:16 AM EDT, 08/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Healthcare stocks were rising pre-bell Monday, with the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) up 0.4% and the iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) gaining 0.2%. Guardant Health (GH) lost a $245.2 million patent infringement lawsuit filed by TwinStrand Biosciences and the University of Washington, TwinStrand said. Guardant Health stock was down more than 2% premarket. United Therapeutics (UTHR) shares were up more than 1% after the company said the US Food and Drug Administration accepted its new drug application for ralinepag to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension. Regenxbio (RGNX) stock was down more than 21% after the company said it does not plan to resubmit the biologics license application for its investigational gene therapy RGX-121 for Hunter syndrome in the near term following a US Food and Drug Administration clinical hold.

According to data from the US Department of the Treasury, in the 12 months ending July this year, overseas investors made net purchases of US stocks totaling $942 billion, marking the highest rolling 12-month total since records began in 1985. The net purchases in the second quarter alone reached $426 billion, setting a new single-quarter record. Meanwhile, overseas demand for US Treasuries has noticeably cooled, with purchase volumes falling significantly. As a result, the US is facing higher costs in government debt financing.
