Sun Life, Wilton Re Form Reinsurance Partnership

09:23 AM EDT, 08/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Sun Life Financial (SLF) said Tuesday that it has formed a reinsurance and asset management partnership with Wilton Re to launch a new entity named Windsor Life Re. The new US and Bermuda-domiciled reinsurer will initially take on $1.7 billion in existing policies from Wilton Re, and expects to deploy $900 million of capital, with each firm contributing roughly one-third of the total equity capitalization, Sun Life said. Sun Life unit SLC Management will oversee the new vehicle's investments as it scales to an anticipated $10 billion in assets, Sun Life said. Sun Life said the project is expected to launch in H1 of next year, pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
