Canada's GDP Rises More Than Expected in June; Q2 GDP Rises, Putting Recession Concerns to Rest

June's GDP expansion was better than a Bloomberg survey consensus for a 0.2% monthly rise. GDP for the second quarter climbed 0.8% quarter over quarter, Statistics Canada wrote on its website, which is currently having "technical difficulties" and doesn't provide further information. The second-quarter growth pushes recession concerns aside after GDP contracted in the last quarter of 2025 and in the first quarter of this year.
