Dollar Rises as Warsh Acknowledges Inflation Risk -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/08/28 14:231423 GMT - The dollar strengthens against a basket of currencies after Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh warned of the risk of high inflation in the U.S. in a speech at the Kansas City Fed's annual symposium in Jackson Hole. "We must be confident that underlying inflation is moving to our objective, clearly and at sufficient speed. Otherwise, we have work to do," he said. Warsh acknowledged that inflation readings over the summer had been better than expected but said "they do not tell me that underlying trends have meaningfully improved." Warsh's warnings on inflation could offer reassurance in investors that the central bank will act if necessary to ensure price stability. The DXY dollar index rises 0.3% on the day to a 9-day high of 99.506, LSEG data show. (miriam.mukuru@wsj.com)
