Kazia Therapeutics Expands Paxalisib Trial Into HR+/HER2- Breast Cancer

07:57 AM EDT, 09/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Kazia Therapeutics (KZIA) said Tuesday that it will expand its ongoing paxalisib clinical trial into hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative advanced breast cancer after preclinical data showed anti-tumor activity and potential to resensitize tumors resistant to CDK4/6 inhibitors. The company said it is adding a three-arm expansion evaluating paxalisib with fulvestrant and palbociclib against fulvestrant alone. Kazia said it has also filed a provisional patent application covering the approach. The company expects to enroll the first patient before the end of 2026, complete enrollment by the end of 2027 and report full results in 2028, it said. Shares of Kazia Therapeutics were 2.8% higher in premarket trading.
