Telesat Unit, Cailabs to Collaborate on Optical Ground Connectivity for Government Missions

08:16 AM EDT, 09/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Telesat (TSAT) unit Telesat Government Solutions and Cailabs US have signed a collaboration agreement to explore optical connectivity for US government and allied missions, the companies said Tuesday. Under the agreement, the companies said they will explore the integration of optical inter-satellite links on Telesat Lightspeed low Earth orbit spacecraft with Cailabs' optical ground systems. The collaboration will include joint studies and demonstrations of the combined capability, including space data relay services, Telesat and Cailabs US said. Financial terms were not disclosed. Shares of Telesat were 1.5% higher in Tuesday premarket activity.
