09:38 AM EDT, 09/10/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Vistra (VST) was Smart Insider's stock pick of the week after Chief Executive Jim Burke bought $1.2 million worth of shares between Aug. 24 and Sept. 1 at an average price of $135.38. The purchase was Burke's first since March 2023, when his buying contributed to a +1 ranking, and was his highest-priced acquisition to date, Smart Insider said in a Thursday note. His latest purchase also followed a series of option-related sales, including a $3.6 million disposal at $162 per share in December 2025, according to the firm. Smart Insider also said the latest purchase is "encouraging" given the executive's return to the stock after more than three years. The firm ranked Vistra +1, indicating a strong positive signal.

According to data from the US Department of the Treasury, in the 12 months ending July this year, overseas investors made net purchases of US stocks totaling $942 billion, marking the highest rolling 12-month total since records began in 1985. The net purchases in the second quarter alone reached $426 billion, setting a new single-quarter record. Meanwhile, overseas demand for US Treasuries has noticeably cooled, with purchase volumes falling significantly. As a result, the US is facing higher costs in government debt financing.
