BTC Dominance Turns Bullish as TOTAL2 Weakens: Is Liquidity Rotating Into Bitcoin?

BTC Dominance Turns Bullish as TOTAL2 Weakens: Is Liquidity Rotating Into Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is gaining market share as BTC dominance holds near 59.46%, while TOTAL2 has fallen toward $1.04 trillion. This divergence confirms stronger relative performance for Bitcoin, although it does not prove that fresh capital is flowing directly into BTC.

TradingView calculates BTC dominance by dividing Bitcoin’s market capitalization by the total value of its top 125 tracked cryptocurrencies. As a result, dominance can rise when Bitcoin gains, when altcoins fall faster, or when both movements occur at the same time.

That distinction is important in the current market setup, particularly after Tuesday’s selloff. Initially, Bitcoin fell more than 5% after the U.S. Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act, adding pressure across the broader crypto market.

The four-hour BTC.D chart places a fair value gap between 59.35% and 59.40%, with dominance holding above that area. This zone remains the main short-term level for judging whether Bitcoin can preserve its expanding market share.

Above it, the chart marks the weekly high near 59.69% as the next resistance level. A move through 59.69% would extend Bitcoin’s relative strength against the broader crypto market. By Wednesday, BTC had stabilized near $75,822, while Ether traded around $2,402 ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy decision.

Meanwhile, the U.S. 10-year yield hovered near 5%, and traders priced a 93% chance of a 25-basis-point Fed hike. Those conditions kept broader risk sentiment under pressure as altcoins remained weaker than Bitcoin in relative terms.

TOTAL2, on the other hand, which tracks the top 125 cryptocurrencies excluding Bitcoin, fell to about $1.038 trillion after rejecting near $1.08 trillion. The index also dropped below the marked weekly level around $1.042 trillion, confirming weaker market value outside BTC.

However, TOTAL2 includes Ether, stablecoins, and other large digital assets. Its decline therefore shows broad weakness outside Bitcoin without identifying which sectors produced the losses.

The clearest confirmation would combine three conditions. BTC dominance would hold 59.35%-59.40%, push toward or above 59.69%, and TOTAL2 would remain below $1.042 trillion while Bitcoin stabilizes or rises.

For now, the data shows a relative market-share shift toward Bitcoin rather than confirmed fresh inflows. If TOTAL2 recovers above $1.042 trillion while BTC.D loses its support gap, that relative-strength structure would weaken materially, while broader altcoin demand would appear stronger.
