XRP Ledger (XRPL) activity has intensified, with both transaction volume and the network’s built-in burn rate climbing noticeably, according to recent network data. Amid this trend, the XRP burn mechanism—which permanently removes a portion of tokens in the form of transaction fees—has become a focal point for observers tracking the asset’s supply and overall health.
XRPL sees 24% surge in transactions as XRP burn rate rises, price holds above $1.27
Ledger activity and burn mechanism pick up pace
Recent XRPL data show that the network processed roughly 2.1 million transactions, marking a 23.9% increase compared to previous periods. Successful transactions reached 1.6 million, up 15.7%, while the number of transactions per ledger rose by 24.6% to 103.33. Payments led the surge with a 31.5% jump to 708,100.
XRPL, launched by Ripple Labs as a decentralized blockchain focused on fast, low-cost cross-border payments, stands out among public blockchains because transaction fees are permanently destroyed rather than distributed to validators. This burning of XRP tokens means network activity directly influences the rate at which XRP is removed from circulation.
The latest figures indicate that 337.2 XRP were burned in transaction fees, slightly above the 30-day average of 319 XRP. Over the past year, the network recorded several spikes in burn rate, including a September incident where burn volume exceeded 1,000 XRP.
Mini dictionary: XRPL Burn Mechanism, the process by which a small amount of XRP is permanently destroyed as each transaction fee, reducing token supply modestly over time while helping prevent spam transactions.
Despite an uptick in activity, analysts say that the number of tokens destroyed remains minuscule relative to XRP’s circulating supply, which totals in the tens of billions. Consequently, these small burns do little to influence market scarcity or price in the short term. Instead, a rising burn rate is most important as a sign of growing XRPL usage.
XRP technical outlook and key price levels
XRP’s price action has turned cautious after a sharp decline from the $1.40–$1.45 consolidation range. The price currently stands near $1.30, having briefly touched lows around $1.27 and slipping below the long-term moving average set at $1.35. This technical breakdown was paired with a noticeable increase in selling volume.
A secondary moving average now offers support in the $1.27 to $1.30 range, while the area between $1.24 and $1.25 has become significant for risk management. During most of the rally after August, the relative strength index (RSI) stayed elevated but has since eased back toward neutral readings.
| $1.40–$1.45 | Previous consolidation | Resistance |
| $1.35 | Long-term moving average | Resistance |
| $1.27–$1.30 | Recent support | Support |
| $1.24–$1.25 | Lower support | Support |
To regain momentum, bulls would first need to push XRP back above $1.35, then reclaim the $1.40–$1.45 range. While higher XRPL activity is constructive for long-term fundamentals, current burn rates remain too low to create any immediate impact on XRP’s supply dynamics.
Market participants are closely watching the ability of buyers to defend support near $1.27–$1.30. The short-term price outlook may depend on whether recent selling pressure can be absorbed at these levels, preventing a deeper technical breakdown.
