Investor Michael Burry disclosed that he has purchased common and preferred shares of QXO (QXO.US), a building products company, citing its integration strategy and the currently depressed stock price. The stock surged 7.2% on Monday.

Zhitong Finance APP reports that investor Michael Burry has disclosed that he has purchased both common and preferred shares of construction products company QXO (QXO.US), citing its consolidation strategy and currently depressed share price. The stock jumped 7.2% on Monday and, as of press time, gained another 2.5% after hours.

Burry rose to fame for shorting the US housing market ahead of the 2008 financial crisis and became one of the prototypes in the movie "The Big Short." He revealed this investment through a post on Substack.

“QXO is a roll-up acquisition and integration platform in the construction products sector. In this industry, scale effects are real,” Burry wrote.

He stated that as QXO expands through acquisitions, its economic benefits should improve. Burry also pointed out that the company’s CEO, Brad Jacobs, has a strong track record in building companies through integration.

“The share price has dropped sharply, and I see this as an entry opportunity,” Burry wrote.

QXO pursues an aggressive acquisition strategy in the highly fragmented building products distribution market. In 2025, the company completed the acquisition of Beacon Roofing Supply, thereby gaining a large distribution network serving the roofing materials and other construction markets.

For investors, Burry’s buy adds a well-known value investor to QXO’s shareholder base, but his investment thesis partly depends on whether management can successfully execute further acquisitions and realize benefits from scale. Meanwhile, QXO remains impacted by demand for construction and renovation, so the pace of any recovery in the housing market is crucial to its performance.
