Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Rise Premarket Tuesday

09:13 AM EDT, 09/22/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were rising premarket Tuesday, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) 0.4% higher and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) up 0.7%. Shopify (SHOP) will incorporate Meta Platforms' (META) Muse agentic AI into its checkout options, Shopify Chief Executive Tobias Lutke said in a post on social media platform X. Shopify stock was up more than 5% pre-bell. GameStop (GME) shares were up more than 3% after Chief Executive Ryan Cohen disclosed a purchase of around 1.15 million GameStop shares at a price of $22.94 per share, representing an investment of about $26.4 million. On Holding (ONON) expects net sales to reach at least 5.6 billion Swiss francs ($6.83 billion) in 2029, with high-teens constant currency growth through the medium term, the company said. On Holding stock was up more than 11% premarket.
