US and Chinese officials hold second round of economic and trade talks in New York, discussing AI dialogue mechanism and extension of trade truce

US and Chinese officials held a second day of talks in New York on Monday, advancing consensus on artificial intelligence, investment, and trade. Chinese Vice Minister of Finance Liao Min stated that the talks focused on implementing matters already agreed upon by the two countries' chief negotiators. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng agreed to establish a US-China AI dialogue mechanism. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said both sides discussed extending the trade truce agreement expiring in November by three to six months.

Meanwhile, Citigroup’s head of wealth management noted that gold now features in almost every client conversation he has.
