MT newswireMT newswire2026/09/23 08:57
04:57 AM EDT, 09/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Brighthouse Financial (BHF) potential acquisition by Sixth Street has been revived as another merger deal is delayed by regulatory review, Bloomberg reported late Tuesday, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter. Sixth Street's Talcott Financial sent a letter to Brighthouse's board restating its ambition to acquire the insurance company if the acquisition by Aquarian fails, the report said. The Aquarian deal's financing is under scrutiny by the Delaware Department of Insurance, the report said. Brighthouse can abandon the deal if regulators don't approve it by Dec. 6, the report said. Brighthouse, Sixth Street, and Aquarian did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally. According to reports, since the middle of last week, Saudi Arabia has sold approximately 100 million barrels of crude oil to China, India, Japan, and South Korea, with delivery periods covering October and November. At the same time, Saudi Aramco has made a rare commitment in these transactions to handle logistics and transportation, delivering the crude oil directly to Asian customers. Previously, due to soaring oil prices, Asian refineries had been considering reducing operating rates. This large-scale supply has to some extent mitigated the supply risks faced by Asia.
