PPL Unit Selected for Up to $71.5 Million DOE Grant for Pennsylvania Grid Project

12:17 PM EDT, 09/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- PPL's (PPL) Electric Utilities unit said Thursday it was selected to receive up to $71.5 million in US Department of Energy funding for a transmission line modernization project in Pennsylvania. The funding, available through the department's Speed to Power through Accelerated Reconductoring and other Key Advanced Transmission Technology Upgrades program, will support the proposed Montour Grid Resilience and Advanced Reconductoring Project to rebuild about 29.3 miles of an existing 230-kilovolt transmission line with advanced technology aimed at improving reliability and increasing capacity.
