Smart Finance APP has learned that on September 25, Tesla (TSLA.US) announced the start of mass production and delivery of its Semi electric truck. Previously, Tesla executives at the Sparks factory in Nevada stated that delivery of the Semi to the first batch of customers would begin this week, nearly nine years after CEO Elon Musk first unveiled this electric heavy-duty truck. The Semi is specifically designed for long-haul freight, expanding Tesla's reach from the electric car and SUV markets into the commercial freight sector, as US diesel prices have currently risen to record highs.
