(1) Hungary's current account for the second quarter of 2026 shifted from a surplus of 1.4 billion euros in the same period last year to a deficit of 250 million euros, marking the first shortfall since the third quarter of 2023. (2) The deterioration was mainly driven by the widening of the goods trade deficit, which increased from 270 million euros to 930 million euros, while the primary income deficit expanded from 1.6 billion euros to 1.7 billion euros. (3) In addition, the secondary income balance shifted from a surplus of 370 million euros in the same period last year to a deficit of 640 million euros. (4) In contrast, the services surplus increased from 2.9 billion euros to 3.1 billion euros.
