Boeing Shares Drop After WSJ Report of 737 MAX Software Glitch -- WSJ

Boeing shares slid about 5% Monday after the plane maker confirmed the existence of a software glitch that could complicate the rollout of its next jet model.
The company informed airlines in August of a software issue that could cause an automated navigation to cut out during some aborted landings, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.
Boeing said it was working with airlines on a workaround procedure while devising a software fix. Some airlines have told Boeing they want MAX jets delivered with an older software version that doesn't include the glitch.
News of a potential software flaw could complicate plans to certify Boeing's 737 MAX 10, the largest version of its best-selling narrow-body passenger jet. CEO Kelly Ortberg this month told investors that the stretched jet could be approved "very soon" after regulators cleared the shorter 737 MAX 7 earlier this summer.
Boeing shares are down about 14% so far this year.
