Sector Update: Tech

01:15 PM EDT, 09/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were lower Monday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) decreasing 0.5% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) falling 2%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor index shed 1.3%. In corporate news, Nvidia (NVDA) said its board approved an additional $150 billion under its existing share repurchase program, increasing the total remaining authorization to $235 billion. The company said it expects to carry out the share buybacks under the remaining program through fiscal 2028. Nvidia shares were up 2.6%.
