03:23 PM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed late Tuesday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) shedding 0.7% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) adding 0.3%. In corporate news, Walt Disney (DIS) is laying off "a few hundred" workers within the company's human resources and information technology departments across corporate and within different divisions, Variety reported, citing a source familiar with the cuts. Disney shares were down 0.4%.
