Liquidia Found to Infringe United Therapeutics Patent in Court Ruling

02:27 PM EDT, 09/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Liquidia (LQDA) said a federal court in Delaware ruled that that the company infringed two claims of a United Therapeutics (UTHR) patent covering the use of inhaled treprostinil to treat pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease, including dry-powder formulations. Liquidia shares tumbled 48% in Wednesday trading, while United Therapeutics rose 12%. The case centers on Liquidia's Yutrepia inhalation powder. The court found two claims of US Patent 11,826,327 valid and infringed, while the remaining asserted claims were ruled invalid, Liquidia said Wednesday in a statement. The parties must submit a proposed form of judgment within one week. United Therapeutics has asked the court for injunctive relief that would restrict Yutrepia's market availability, according to the statement. Liquidia said it cannot estimate potential outcomes or financial exposure at this stage. United Therapeutics didn't immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
