Market Chatter: Boeing Faces Looming Strike as Revised Offer for SPEEA Goes Under Vote

MT newswireMT newswire2026/10/01 09:53
05:53 AM EDT, 10/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing (BA) is facing a looming strike by engineering and technical workers should members of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, or SPEEA, reject the company's revised contract offer, Reuters reported Wednesday. About 17,000 SPEEA members are set to vote on the offer Thursday, the report said. The revised offer was presented in September and includes a 10% pay increase upon ratification and annual guaranteed raises of 4%, plus 2% in potential performance increases, among other benefits, according to Reuters. The union members' rejection of the offer could kick off a strike as early as Oct. 7 as the current contract is set to expire Oct. 6, the report added. SPEEA members had already authorized a strike in August, Reuters reported. Boeing and SPEEA did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
