Sector Update: Healthcare Stocks Fall in Afternoon Trading

01:50 PM EDT, 10/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Healthcare stocks declined Thursday afternoon, with the NYSE Healthcare Index falling 0.9% and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) dropping 1.1%. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) shed 0.9%. In corporate news, Pfizer (PFE) is facing a lawsuit filed by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier alleging deceptive marketing practices related to COVID-19 vaccines, the attorney general's office said Thursday on X. Pfizer shares were down 0.9%. McKesson (MCK) has signed an agreement in principle to extend its pharmaceutical distribution partnership with CVS Health (CVS) through June 2032, the company said Wednesday. McKesson shares jumped 5%, and CVS was down 0.2%.
