The US dollar strengthens, supported by Fed rate hike expectations and concerns over French debt.
智通财经2026/10/06 07:01Supported by market expectations of Federal Reserve rate hikes and concerns over French debt, the US dollar remains strong, having risen to its highest level since April 2025 against a basket of currencies on Monday. Although market expectations for a rate hike later this month by the Federal Reserve have cooled in recent trading days, LSEG data shows that markets have fully priced in a 25 basis point Fed rate hike by December, and anticipate more than three rate hikes next year. Meanwhile, concerns over France’s fiscal situation have put pressure on the euro and strengthened the dollar’s status as a safe-haven asset. The US Dollar Index (DXY) rose 0.14% on the day, reaching 102.259.
