Market Chatter: AMD Aims to 'Substantially Increase' Chip Supply in 2027, CEO Says
MT newswire2026/10/06 08:2804:28 AM EDT, 10/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- AMD (AMD) is planning to "substantially increase" its chip supply next year to meet rising demand driven by the AI boom, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing Chief Executive Lisa Su at a media briefing in Taipei. One reason for her Taiwan visit was to ensure the US chip giant's supply chain could ramp up central processing unit and graphics processing unit production. The executive met with Foxconn and is scheduled to meet Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) as part of discussions with local partners, according to the report. AMD is also working with memory chipmakers to secure sufficient supplies, Su said, ahead of her visit to South Korea, which houses tech giants Samsung and SK Hynix (SKHY), the news agency reported. AMD didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
