U.S. President Trump, when asked about mortgage rates on Wednesday, stated that the Federal Reserve Board "wants to see the country perform badly." The U.S. 30-year mortgage rate rose to its highest level in nearly three years last week. Trump described Fed Chairman Waller as "very outstanding," but added that other members of the Fed Board "seem to want to see the country perform badly, because I think interest rates should be coming down." U.S. Treasury Secretary Bensent, who was with Trump in the Oval Office, said that inflation is high due to energy shocks. "Therefore, once we get through this Iran conflict and the energy market is adequately supplied, inflation will fall back toward the Fed’s target, and both mortgage rates and the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield will come down."

Citi raises TSMC target price to 4,000 New Taiwan dollars, maintains Buy rating

Citi analysts stated in a research report that, driven by robust AI computing demand, the potential expansion of AI agents, and the rise of co-packaged optics (CPO) network cycles, TSMC’s revenue growth rate is expected to remain above 40% through 2027. The analysts noted that most AI chip clients, including Nvidia, AMD, and Broadcom, anticipate accelerated growth, so TSMC’s AI-related revenue may nearly double next year. As a result, Citi expects the market will continue to raise earnings forecasts for TSMC. Citi pointed out that supported by the strong revenue outlook, TSMC’s capital expenditure could further rise to $81 billions in 2027 and $90 billions in 2028. Citi maintains a “Buy” rating on TSMC and has raised its target price from 3,800 to 4,000 New Taiwan dollars.
